CAA notice regarding commercial rocket flights

UKRA council hopes that all fliers are well and have enjoyed the extra build time available during lockdown. With the relaxation of the lockdown rules flying may soon be viable. Please ensure that you are adhering to your club and local authority guidance. We hope that you're able to benefit from the exceptional weather we're currently experiencing.

UKRA have received a notification from the Civil Aviation Authority regarding commercial rocket flights and would like to inform all fliers that commercial rocket flights (those for payment or reward) are covered by the Air Navigation Order paragraph 96(7). This paragraph states that permission from the CAA is required prior to any commercial flights for rockets of 160Ns total impulse or higher (H or above).

UKRA has contacted individuals we know are currently involved in commercial flights to inform them of this regulation. Please contact the UKRA Council if further clarification on this is required.
